Friday, August 2, 2013 at 1:PM, the services of my brother Billy J, Jefferson was held at Bradshaw Chapel, in Kennett, Missouri. The entire Jefferson family was hurt and devastated over the unprofessional and disrespectful way we were treated. The funeral services were conducted in a very unprofessional manner. To be specific, the funeral director allowed all unrelated individuals to seat themselves on all the reserved seats and I, who am the late Billy's sister, his two brothers who are Percy and Elmer ,his five children ,cousins, aunts and uncles had to literally find seats on the three pews in the back of the chapel. In all of my 67 years of living I have never seen where the funeral director didn't take charge of the seating arrangements. All who attended the services,, including church members were puzzled. I have this ought against you and my prayer is, in the near future that you will treat other families with more respect than you treated the Jefferson family. I have attended funeral services where the funeral director ask other people to move if they weren't a relative. This surely didn't happen with our family. We were angered by this but we acted with respect, knowing if we had acted differently things would have gotten out of hand. Thank God we had the wisdom to act like intelligent human beings. One final statement, my brother, Percy Jefferson was told by the funeral director, "Find a seat wherever you can". His intentions were to never seat us accordingly.

    Hurt and disgruntle

Bradshaw Funeral Home was entrusted with the special privilege of providing funeral arrangement service or my brother Billy Jefferson. It was devastating to lose him so early, but the way they conducted his services added to the devastation. It seemed that they were more interested in conducting a show for his wife than to providing the respectful and caring services for His family. There was no care or concern taken into consideration at all with the seating arrangements. All of My brother's children and sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews had to find seats at the back without assistance while the front seats were occupied with in-laws and distant in-laws or anyone dressed in colors that his wife chose(red and black). There were first cousins who traveled long distances that were left standing while babies with red and black were sitting in front seats. His oldest brother, who acts as a father figure of the family and cared for him during his battle of illness was left to find a seat on the last pew. We are grief-stricken but also angered at the disrespectful manner that Billy's services were provided. The most offensive part of the whole situation is when the director used the sacred moment of prayer to seclude us in a side room so that the people dressed in red and black could occupy the front seats. Anyone in the Kennett area seeking funeral services should seek else where because the too might be let to grieve in anger.
